Welcome to Northern California FCA

70+ students showed up to hear Sacramento Director Lori Shimasaki share about Jesus at the last huddle of the year at Edward Harris Middle School. As the school year wraps up, we are so grateful for the doors God opened up for FCA on campus!! God is moving and you are a part of this HARVEST!

There are moments in life we can't always prepare ourselves for. Moments that stop us in our tracks, take our breath and hit us with unimaginable pain and grief. Jesus offers us hope, peace and comfort just by simply knowing Him. But, we can't be quick to assume that just because we know Him, we are somehow free from life's most challenging moments. If anything, this hope equips us for when the waves and storms come and when the loss hits close to home. So, what do we do when we or someone we know are in the middle of a tragic loss? Seek the LORD. Devote yourself to prayer, read or listen to God's Word, surround yourself with Christian community or be the person someone grieving needs to have close. The pain of loss can be overwhelming. It can also feel lonely because many people can't relate to the same pain. The only promise worth holding onto is the promise that this life isn't all that we have. When we are in Christ, we long for the day we get to be in Heaven, reunited with those we've lost and in the presence of God forever. Without this hope, our ability to endure the hard things will feel nearly impossible. We are not meant to do it on our own. Jesus is our comforter, provider, present help and healer. His Word says, "I love those who love me, and those who search for me find me (Proverbs 8:17, CSB)." When we seek the Lord in the middle of grief and loss, He meets us with His unfailing love and wraps us in His arms. He sustains us in our weakness and carries us through by His strength. The crushing weight of loss will still be heavy, but this is what God will do one day, "He will wipe away every tear from their eyes. Death will be no more; grief, crying, and pain will be no more, because the previous things will pass away. (Revelation 21:4, CSB)." We pray you can find hope and comfort in the promises of Jesus today. • Repost from @thefcateam

We are excited to announce that Lori Shimasaki is now the FCA Sacramento Area Director. Lori has proven herself to be an incredible leader over her years with FCA and her dedication and wisdom has made a lasting impact on the lives of students and coaches. We are excited by the growth she has brought to our region. Not only has she established and consistently developed the huddles and leaders in her area, Shimasaki also partnered in launching FCA within the Lodi and Stockton areas including high schools and middle schools. She helped launch and build leadership teams in Sacramento such as River City HS, Antelope, Casa Roble, partnering with our FCA staff as a team. Shimasaki has created regional leadership trainings and and continues to lead the Chick-Fil-A Leader Academy for FCA. We are excited for what is ahead as she transitions into her new role!
